„The intelligent fight against malaria“: That is the name of the film Sascha Spataru, Director of sci.med.marketing, made in Burkina Faso. He documents the progress of the project EMIRA, a research project of the Heidelberg University Clinic.
The team lead by Prof. Rainer Sauerborn, director of the Institute for Public Health, has for a few months now been fighting the proliferation of the anopheles mosquito in Nouna, in north-western Burkina Faso. The scientists are testing the effectiveness of BTI, a substance that was successfully used in combating the spread of crane flies in the Rhineland in the seventies. The project is supported financially by the Manfred Lautenschläger Foundation.
